According to reports, the 27-year-old American rapper was arrested by authorities in Santo Domingo on Wednesday on suspicion of domestic violence.
The talented Rap artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernández, is in jail in the Dominican Republic’s capital and is reportedly scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
According to the Associated Press, a judge will decide at a hearing whether Tekashi 6ix9ine should remain in jail or be released on bail while authorities investigate.
The details of the alleged domestic violence dispute are kept private and have not yet been made public.
The musician, known for his smash mixtape Day69′ and hits such as “Gummo” and “Fefe” with Nicki Minaj, has had several run-ins with the law. This isn’t the rapper’s first run-in with law authorities.
In 2019, the Tattle Tales artist was found guilty of racketeering and other charges.
Most recently, Tekashi was arrested for allegedly assaulting a music producer who was working with his rapper girlfriend, Yailin La Mas Villar, at the producer’s studio. The current prosecution status of this case is unknown.
Yailin and Tekashi also had relationship problems. The rapper was arrested just two months prior to his latest arrest on charges of aggravated assault, witness tampering and criminal mischief after he allegedly hit Tekashi and his Bentley with a two-wheel drive vehicle.
According to TMZ, the rapper accused Yailin of destroying his car, but she said she did it to “cause financial hardship” to Hernandez after he stole her money and some of her passport.
A few months ago in August, the “Gooba” rapper was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida for failing to appear in court. He had previously been cited three times for traffic accidents, and a judge issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear at a court date scheduled for July.
The hip-hop artist was stopped and arrested in another traffic accident while driving an unmarked car with an expired license.
Hernandez, who had previously been accused in the United States of using violent gangs as “personal killing squads,” was jailed for testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, which operates on the East Coast of the United States.
In March 2023, three people were arrested in connection with an attack on a controversial rapper. Footage showed 6ix9ine lying on the floor outside a sauna at a gym in Florida as he was attacked by multiple attackers.
In December 2021, 6ix9ine was sued by a promoter in Texas for allegedly receiving payment for a concert and leaving the venue without performing. JJD Entertainment filed a lawsuit against the 25-year-old rapper, alleging that 6ix9ine flew to Humble, Texas, to “take the cash and leave,” according to court documents obtained by Complex
