Zimbabwean president Mnangagwa calls for political tolerance in his nation’s address ahead of the 2023 election.
HARARE – Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa used his State of the Nation Address to call on politicians to show political tolerance ahead of the 2023 elections.
Mnangagwa delivered his speech in front of a new multimillion-dollar Parliament building donated by China.
As a “gift” to the country, the Asian economic giant funded and built the six-story parliament building in Mt. Hampden, about 18 kilometres west of Harare.
Mnangagwa has once again called for the lifting of economic sanctions.
“The unconditional removal of sanctions that have hampered socio-economic growth for decades remains urgent and imperative,” he said.
“Month-on-month inflation for September 2022 fell significantly to 3.5% from 12.4% in August 2022.”
